The Recovery Advocate is the person actually in the room. You keep the floor safe and the day structured for people in the first hours of withdrawal — walking rounds, noticing what changes, and being steady when someone is not.
The schedule
- Full time, with varying shifts — days, evenings and overnights all exist on this rota.
- On site at the North Lamar campus every shift.
- Thirty-minute rounds are the spine of the job.
What you will do
- Monitor client activity and document what you observe.
- Keep clients safe and hold the policies and procedures.
- Complete thirty-minute rounds and keep the day structured.
- Offer guidance and redirection when someone drifts off track.
- Help with intakes, discharges and transportation as needed.
- Hold professional boundaries while still being encouraging.
What you need
Required
- A compassionate, professional attitude.
- Strong communication and problem-solving.
- The ability to set a boundary and still be supportive.
- A genuine interest in helping people through addiction.
Preferred, not required
- Any experience in behavioral health, healthcare or peer support.
- Plans to build a career in addiction counseling, mental health or nursing — this role is a direct route into all three.

Where you would work
North Austin — our Austin detox at 11711 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78753. A quiet clinical office setting on our own campus, with documentation tools, office space and a team on the floor at the weekend as well as midweek. On site, every shift.
