What happens
- Sessions scheduled around work and family rather than the reverse
- Individual and group therapy with the same clinical team week to week
- Medication management where that is part of the plan
- Drug screening used as support rather than as a test to pass
- Often paired with sober living, so home is stable while treatment continues
Is this the right level?
- Withdrawal is managed, or was never a medical risk in the first place
- You have somewhere stable and substance-free to sleep
- Work, school or caring responsibilities make residential care impractical
When it is not
If going home each night means going back to the people and places the using happened around, residential treatment or sober living gives this a much better chance.

Straight answers
Outpatient treatment — common questions
Who provides outpatient treatment?
Briarwood Detox Center delivers it at our own Austin and Houston and San Antonio centers.
Is outpatient treatment right for me?
Withdrawal is managed, or was never a medical risk in the first place. You have somewhere stable and substance-free to sleep. An assessment confirms it either way, and we will say so if it is not.
What if it is not the right level of care?
If going home each night means going back to the people and places the using happened around, residential treatment or sober living gives this a much better chance.
Does insurance cover it?
Most major insurance covers medically necessary treatment, and Briarwood is in network with 18 carriers. Coverage varies by plan, so benefits are verified free before anything is scheduled.
How soon can I start?
Admissions is staffed 24 hours a day and availability changes daily, so a call is the only way to get a real answer for today.
