Inpatient detox is $900 a day at Briarwood in Austin and Houston, which comes to $4,500 to $6,300 for a typical 5 to 7 day stay. Outpatient detox in San Antonio is $350 a day. Medications and labs are billed separately.

How much does detox cost in Austin, Houston and San Antonio?

Why do online detox cost estimates range from a few hundred dollars to $30,000?
Because they mix three different products: a day of standard medical detox, an anesthesia-assisted rapid detox, and a luxury residential stay. Most cost guides quote all three in one range and let the reader guess which applies.
The prices on this page are for standard medically supervised detox and its executive tier at $1,800 a day, which is what the large majority of people who call us need. How much does detox cost with insurance?
Between $0 and $5,000 out of pocket, depending on your plan. The low end is real: if you have already met your out-of-pocket maximum for the year, you may pay nothing at all.
How that number is worked out
- 1 Your plan sets an allowed amount for each day of care.
- 2 Until your deductible is met, you pay that amount.
- 3 After the deductible, you pay only your coinsurance share.
- 4 Once you reach your out-of-pocket maximum, you pay nothing more for the year.

How much does detox cost per day?
$900 a day for inpatient detox in Austin or Houston, and $350 a day for outpatient detox in San Antonio. Executive detox, a private room with your own devices, is $1,800 a day. Most stays run five to seven days.
How much does IOP cost?
$250 a session, or $6,000 for the 24-session course, at all three locations. That is three three-hour groups a week plus one individual session, so the course runs about eight weeks. Medications, doctor visits, labs and drug testing are billed separately.
What will I pay if I have insurance?
Most insured clients pay between $0 and $5,000, depending on how much of your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum you have already met. If you have met your out-of-pocket maximum for the year, you may pay nothing.
Do you take Medicaid and Medicare?
No. Briarwood is not a Medicare or Medicaid provider, so we cannot bill either one. We do accept TRICARE and VA benefits, and commercial plans. If Medicare or Medicaid is your only coverage, findtreatment.gov lists nearby programs that do accept it, and the SAMHSA National Helpline on 1-800-662-4357 is free and staffed around the clock.
Is a deposit required?
No. Payment is normally taken at the time of admission rather than in advance.
Are payment plans available?
Contact admissions for terms. We are not publishing specific interest or duration terms, because a published financing term is a contract term and ours vary by situation.
What if I cannot afford it?
Say so on the call. Reduced rates are considered case by case, and it is a better conversation to have before admission than after.
