Who needs detox?

It changes nothing about what we check — it only tells us who we are speaking to.

What are you hoping to arrange?
How would treatment be paid for?

This is the question that decides whether we can help, so it is worth being exact.

Could you cover the cost privately?

Detox here is billed to insurance or paid for privately. There is no charity bed, so a straight answer now saves you a call that ends the same way.

Who is the insurance carrier?

Pick the name on the card. If it is not here, choose the last option and admissions will find it.

Good news — we can check that for you

An admissions specialist verifies your benefits with the insurer directly and calls back with what you would actually pay. Nobody else is told, including your employer.

Last part — the details off your insurance card

The insurer will not tell us what a plan covers without these. Everything here is HIPAA-protected and goes only to the admissions specialist running your check.

The essentials

What a benefit check tells you

A benefit check is a phone call we make to your insurer, not a form you fill in and hope. It comes back with the figure you would owe for a detox stay — usually between $0 and $5,000 — before you agree to anything. We cannot bill Medicare or Medicaid.

Would rather not type?

Admissions can run the same check on the phone in a couple of minutes.

Straight answers

Insurance questions people actually ask

Do you take Medicaid or Medicare?

No. Briarwood is not a Medicare or Medicaid provider, so we cannot bill either one, and the questions above will tell you that straight away rather than after a phone call. findtreatment.gov lists nearby programs that do accept it, and the SAMHSA National Helpline on 1-800-662-4357 is free and staffed around the clock.

Do you take TRICARE or VA benefits?

Yes. Choose TRICARE or VA on the coverage question and admissions will verify it with the plan directly.

What will I actually pay if I have insurance?

Most insured clients pay between $0 and $5,000, depending on how much of your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum you have already met. If you have met your out-of-pocket maximum for the year, you may pay nothing. The benefit check is what turns that range into your number.

Does verifying my benefits commit me to anything?

No. It is a check, not an admission, and there is no deposit. People use it to find out where they stand before deciding anything, which is what it is for.

Will my employer or my family find out?

Not from us. We do not contact your employer, and we do not tell anyone you contacted us. Your insurer sees a benefits enquiry the same as for any medical care, and an explanation of benefits may go to the policyholder — worth knowing if the plan is in somebody else's name.

My carrier is not on the list. Does that mean you cannot help?

No. The list covers the plans we see most often. Choose the last option, and admissions will check your plan by name — most out-of-network plans still pay something toward detox.

What if I have no insurance at all?

Self-pay starts at $350 a day and admissions can quote your stay before you commit. Reduced rates are considered case by case. What we cannot do is treat somebody for free, so if free is the only workable option the questions above will point you somewhere that can.
