Every claim paid and every denial overturned is treatment somebody actually receives. You would own the full revenue cycle for residential and detox services — scrubbing claims before they go, appealing the ones that come back, and chasing the ones that go quiet.
The schedule
- Full time, standard business hours — carriers and internal teams keep them, so you do too.
- Fully remote, from anywhere in Texas.
- An on-call rotation including weekends and holidays may be required; the facilities run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Occasional travel to Nova facilities around Texas for meetings, training and audits.
What you will do
- Manage the complete billing lifecycle for residential treatment and detox services.
- Review, audit and scrub claims for accuracy and compliance before submission.
- Submit electronic claims in 837I and 837P formats, and clear clearinghouse rejections.
- Post insurance payments and 835 ERA transactions accurately.
- Investigate denials, find the root cause, and prepare technical and clinical appeals.
- Work the AR — unpaid, underpaid and delayed claims, and the reasons behind them.
- Build strategies that stop the next denial rather than just resolving this one.
What you need
Required
- Two to four years of dedicated medical billing and collections experience.
- Billing experience with Residential Treatment Centers or inpatient detox — this one is required, not preferred.
- Electronic claim submission in 837I and 837P, and clearinghouse rejection resolution.
- Payment posting and 835 ERA processing.
- Denial management, appeals, and AR follow-up.
- UB-04 claim forms, and behavioral health revenue codes for residential and detox.
- Reliable internet with a backup connection, and reliable transportation for Texas travel.
Preferred, not required
- Behavioral health claims and reimbursement processes specifically.

Where you would work
From home, anywhere in Texas — the state boundary is a real requirement, not a preference. You would live in billing software, the EHR, payer portals and a clearinghouse all day, so reliable internet and a backup connection are part of the job description. Occasional travel to Nova facilities around Texas for meetings, training and audits, so you need reliable transportation too.

What does the remote Billing Representative role pay?

Can I do this job from outside Texas?
No. The role is fully remote but you must reside in the State of Texas — the posting is explicit about it, and there is occasional travel to Nova facilities around the state, so it is a genuine requirement rather than a formality.
What billing experience do you actually require?
Two to four years of medical billing and collections, and specifically experience billing Residential Treatment Centers or inpatient detox. That second one is required rather than preferred — behavioral health revenue codes and RTC claims are not something you can pick up on the job here.

How is the role measured?
On the numbers a biller controls: a first-pass clean claim rate above 95%, timely denial resolution, appeals recovery, reduction of 90-plus-day accounts receivable, and DSO goals. The posting states them up front rather than leaving them to a review.
