Overnight is when detox is least forgiving and the building is quietest. You are the clinician awake for it — watching withdrawal, holding the medication line, and deciding what needs a physician at three in the morning.

The schedule

  • Eight or twelve-hour night shifts. Full time or part time, both are open.
  • On site at the North Lamar campus. There is no remote or hybrid version of this role.
  • You act as house supervisor overnight when the shift needs one.

What you will do

  • Complete nursing assessments and monitor withdrawal.
  • Supervise and document medication self-administration against physician orders.
  • Coordinate admissions, intake orders and communication with physicians.
  • Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies.
  • Maintain infection control procedures and clinical documentation.
  • Give the end-of-shift handoff to the day shift and the clinical team.

What you need

Required

  • Active LVN or LPN license in Texas.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • CPR certification — you can apply without it, but you need it before your start date.
  • The judgment to stay calm and decide alone at four in the morning.

Preferred, not required

  • Experience in detox, addiction treatment or another behavioral health setting.
  • Familiarity with 12-step recovery principles.

If you hold the credential and the rest is thin, apply anyway. The preferred list is what we would like, not a filter we run.

Where you would work

North Austin — our Austin detox at 11711 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78753. A quiet clinical office setting on our own campus, with documentation tools, office space and a team on the floor at the weekend as well as midweek. On site, every shift.

Before you click apply

The application runs in Proliant and asks for everything in one sitting: resume first, then your details, then two previous employers with dates, supervisor names and supervisor phone numbers, then two references with contact details, then a background-check consent. It does not save partway through.

Twenty minutes at a desk with those to hand. If it defeats you, call (512) 213-4304 and ask for HR rather than giving up.

Questions about this role

What does the LVN/LPN night nurse role at Briarwood pay?

$29.00 an hour to start. The posting names a starting rate rather than a range, so what it tops out at is worth asking at interview, along with whether a night differential applies on top.

Do I need an LVN or LPN license to apply?

Yes. An active LVN or LPN license in Texas is required, along with a high school diploma or GED. Detox or behavioral health experience is preferred but not required.

Is this a night shift job?

Yes, entirely. Shifts are eight or twelve hours overnight, and you act as house supervisor when the shift needs one. There is no day-shift version of this posting.

Can I work part time as a nurse at Briarwood?

Yes. This role is open to both full-time and part-time nurses, on eight or twelve-hour night shifts.

Do I need CPR certification before I apply?

No — you can apply without it. You need CPR certification before your start date, not before your application.

Where is the nursing job located?

North Austin — Briarwood Detox Center, 11711 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78753. It is on site every shift, and it is not at a Wimberley or Hill Country campus.

What is the nurse-to-client work actually like overnight?

Withdrawal monitoring and assessment, supervising medication self-administration against physician orders, coordinating admissions and intake orders, and responding to medical and psychiatric emergencies. It is a clinical detox setting with standard medical equipment, on your feet, lifting up to ten pounds.

Equal opportunity

We welcome applicants from every background, including people with lived experience of recovery. Hiring decisions are made on credential, experience and fit for the role. Briarwood Detox Center is operated by Nova Recovery LLC, which is the employer named on the application.

Rather just send us your details?

The full application above is the one that gets you into the hiring process, and it is worth the twenty minutes. But if you are reading this between clients and do not have two references to hand, leave your details and a person from HR will come back to you.

Goes to Briarwood HR. We will not add you to a marketing list, and this is not a treatment enquiry. Prefer to talk? Call (512) 213-4304.
