You run the clinical floor at Old Oaks Ranch: the staff, the schedule, the charts and the standard of the work. It is a leadership job with a caseload attached — you would still be in group, and still carrying the regulatory readiness of the campus.

The schedule

  • Full time, on site at Old Oaks Ranch in Wimberley.
  • A flexible schedule that can include evenings, weekends and on-call.
  • Some travel to other Nova locations in Texas.

What you will do

  • Supervise, mentor and support the clinical and residential staff.
  • Lead daily team meetings and oversee program operations.
  • Facilitate group and individual counseling sessions yourself.
  • Manage assessments, treatment plans and discharge coordination.
  • Audit charts and hold documentation compliance.
  • Maintain staff schedules and make sure the campus is covered.
  • Drive quality improvement and keep the campus ready for a regulator.

What you need

Required

  • A master’s-level clinical license in good standing — LPC, LCSW, LMFT or equivalent.
  • Two or more years supervising or running operations in behavioral health, residential treatment or healthcare.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in behavioral health or business administration.
  • Experience with EHR systems.
  • Working knowledge of substance use disorders, co-occurring conditions and 12-step models.

Preferred, not required

  • PhD or PsyD.
  • Lightning Step specifically, among EHR systems.

If you hold the credential and the rest is thin, apply anyway. The preferred list is what we would like, not a filter we run.

Where you would work

Old Oaks Ranch campus — 601 Old Oaks Ranch Road, Wimberley, TX 78676. On site, and worth saying plainly: this is a Nova Recovery Center campus rather than a Briarwood building, so the photographs elsewhere on this site are not of it.

Before you click apply

The application runs in Proliant and asks for everything in one sitting: resume first, then your details, then two previous employers with dates, supervisor names and supervisor phone numbers, then two references with contact details, then a background-check consent. It does not save partway through.

Twenty minutes at a desk with those to hand. If it defeats you, call (512) 213-4304 and ask for HR rather than giving up.

Questions about this role

What does the Clinical Director role at Old Oaks pay?

$60,000 to $100,000 a year, commensurate with experience, plus medical, dental, vision and life insurance and PTO after the probationary period.

What license do I need to be Clinical Director?

A master’s-level clinical license in good standing — LPC, LCSW, LMFT or equivalent. A PhD or PsyD is preferred but not required. You also need two or more years supervising or running operations in behavioral health, residential treatment or healthcare, and that part is required rather than preferred.

Where is the Old Oaks Ranch campus?

601 Old Oaks Ranch Road, Wimberley, TX 78676 — in the Hill Country, a short drive from Austin or San Marcos. The role is on site, with some travel to other Nova locations in Texas.

Is this a Briarwood job or a Nova job?

Nova. Nova Recovery Center is the parent company of Briarwood Detox and Eudaimonia Recovery Homes, and Old Oaks Ranch is Nova’s own residential campus. It is listed here because the group hires through one system; the employer on the offer would be Nova.

Would I still see clients, or is it purely management?

Both. You would facilitate group and individual counseling sessions alongside supervising staff, running daily team meetings, auditing charts and holding the campus’s regulatory readiness. It is not a desk-only director role.

What are the hours?

Full time, with a flexible schedule that can include evenings, weekends and on-call shifts. Residential treatment does not stop at five, and the person running the clinical floor is expected to be reachable.

Which EHR do you use?

Lightning Step is preferred. Experience with EHR systems generally is a requirement; Lightning Step specifically is what the campus runs on.

Equal opportunity

We welcome applicants from every background, including people with lived experience of recovery. Hiring decisions are made on credential, experience and fit for the role. Briarwood Detox Center is operated by Nova Recovery LLC, which is the employer named on the application.

Rather just send us your details?

The full application above is the one that gets you into the hiring process, and it is worth the twenty minutes. But if you are reading this between clients and do not have two references to hand, leave your details and a person from HR will come back to you.

Goes to Briarwood HR. We will not add you to a marketing list, and this is not a treatment enquiry. Prefer to talk? Call (512) 213-4304.
